PERITO-MORENO
Von den „Torres del Paine“ aus mussten wir wieder nach Argentinien einreisen, da die nächsten Ziele unserer Reise auf argentinischer Seite lagen. Der Nationalpark „Los Glaciares“, der sich über eine Fläche von 600.000 Hektar erstreckt hat spektakuläre Naturschönheiten aufzuweisen, von denen die bekanntesten der Perito-Moreno-Gletscher im Süden und das Fitzroy-Massiv im Norden sind.
Über eine inzwischen geteerte Stichstraße erreichten wir El Calafate, welches der Ausgangspunkt für Touren zum Perito-Moreno-Gletscher ist. Total touristisch und überteuert haben wir dort nicht lange gehalten und uns auf den Weg zum Gletscher gemacht.
Die Gletscher des Nationalparks sind Ausläufer des Inlandeises der südlichen Halbkugel und gelten als die, abgesehen von den Polregionen, größte zusammenhängende Eismasse der Erde. Der Perito-Moreno-Gletscher ist einer von ihnen, 14 Kilometer lang, 5 Kilometer breit und er erhebt sich mit seiner Eiswand, der Gletscherzunge, 55 Meter hoch aus dem Lago Argentino. Wie wir von der Hinweistafel entnommen haben, „wächst“ er jeden Tag ca. 2 Meter im Zentrum und schiebt sich an den Seiten 40 cm heraus! Am Ende, an der Gletscherzunge taut das Eis langsam oder schneller ab, es bilden sich Risse und die Eisbrocken fallen ins Wasser: der Gletscher kalbt!
Da wir bei schönstem Wetter bei dem Gletscher waren und die Sonne intensiv schien, durften wir besonders am Nachmittag Zeugen riesiger Abbrüche werden und ganze Häuserwände fielen mit lautem Poltern und Krachen ins Wasser. Irre!
Und ständig hört man ein Knacksen, Knarren und Knirschen, mal mehr und mal weniger.
Zwischendurch gingen wir immer mal wieder zum „G“ auf dem Parkplatz zurück, tranken Kaffee, aßen etwas und warteten darauf, dass die Touristenmassen verschwanden, um allein beim Gletscher sein zu können. Wir wurden bei diesem Naturschauspiel wirklich nicht müde und konnten ganze drei Tage ohne Langeweile am Gletscher verbringen!
Am Nachmittag des dritten Tages schafften wir dann doch den „Absprung“ und verließen unseren Standplatz am Gletscher. Über Calafate fuhren wir noch ein paar Kilometer weiter entlang des Lago Argentino und fanden schließlich inmitten einer Pferdefamilie einen schönen Platz zum Übernachten.

Die Bilder der Gletscherregion sind ja super! Und ich dachte schon, Jökulsarlon wäre nicht zu toppen, aber das Erlebnis gönne ich euch von Herzen. Passt nur ja auf, dass euch nicht die Brocken auf den Kopf oder den guten “G” fallen.
