BONJOUR ET AU REVOIR, MONTREAL
366 Tage, 58.000 Kilometer und unendlich viele tolle Erlebnisse lagen nun auf der Reise hinter uns und wir fuhren mit gemischten Gefühlen über die Brücke des St.Lorenz-Stromes nach Montreal hinüber. Von hier aus hatten wir die Verschiffung des „G’s“ geplant und wollten auch selbst an Bord des Frachters zurück nach Europa fahren. Zum Glück kamen wir eine Woche vor der Abfahrt des Schiffes in Montreal an und hatten so genügend Zeit, alle Wege zu erledigen. Und es gab in der Tat noch einiges zu organisieren…
Die Spedition, mit der wir seit einiger Zeit in Emailkontakt standen und die die Verschiffung übernehmen sollte, befand sich in Toronto und hatte leider keine Außenstelle in Montreal. So hieß es weiter per Mail kommunizieren und ca. 125 Mal hin und her telefonieren. Fast wie im Film hieß es vor unserer Ankunft: „Bitte melden Sie sich telefonisch, sobald Sie in Montreal erreicht haben, um weitere Instruktionen zu erhalten!“ Na, das konnte ja lustig werden. Doch so lustig waren die ganzen Aktionen überhaupt nicht und haben einige Nerven gekostet.
In den 20’ Container packten wir neben unserem „G“ auch noch das Motorrad von Rok, unserem slowenischen Freund, mit hinein. Da er die gleiche Zeit wie wir unterwegs war und auch im Osten von Nordamerika seine Reise beenden wollte, hat sich das gemeinsame Verschiffen angeboten und wir können so die Kosten aufteilen.
Nachdem wir alles erledigt hatten, hatten wir endlich den Kopf frei für Montreal und nahmen Abschied vom amerikanischen Kontinent.
Obwohl wir uns seltsamerweise nun gar nicht mehr wie in Amerika vorkamen, sondern auch in Frankreich hätten sein können. Die Häuser, das Stadtbild, die Sprache…alles französisch und wir haben hier das erste Mal den Zweisprachenstaat Kanada in voller Bracht erlebt. Die Bewohner Montreals und gesamt Quebecs sind darauf auch sehr stolz und es gab sogar vor nicht allzu langer Zeit eine Abstimmung über die Unabhängigkeit von Kanada.
Von unserem kleinen Hotels aus, in welches wir uns eingemietet hatten, unternahmen wir lange Erkundungsspaziergänge durch die Straßen, schlenderten von Café zu Café oder Brasserie, sahen uns die alten und die modernen Häuser an und genossen auch einfach nur das herrliche Sommerwetter.
Und am Montag, dem 24. September war es dann soweit, dass wir den „G“ und die „BMW“ auf den Hof der Verladefirma vorfuhren. Man erwartete uns und nach der Lagebesprechung konnte Mario den „G“ in den Container einparken. Rok’s Motorrad passte, entgegen den Befürchtungen, mit viel Platz davor hinein und wir waren froh, als die Türen des Containers geschlossen wurden. Per LKW sollte er dann im Laufe des Tages zum Hafen gefahren werden und hoffentlich auf das richtige Schiff verladen werden. Also Daumen drücken!
Wir haben einen lustigen Abschiedsabend zusammen mit Rok in Montreal verbracht und sind nächsten Morgen mit dem Taxi zum Hafen gefahren, um an Bord der MS Flottbek zu gehen. In voraussichtlich 10 Tagen werden wir mit einem Zwischenstopp in Liverpool dann im Hafen von Antwerpen einlaufen und somit den europäischen Boden nach etwas über einem Jahr wieder unter den Füßen haben.
