CONAKRY UND FREETOWN
Je südlicher wir kamen, umso heißer und schwüler wurde es und wir waren im ersten Moment gar nicht so erpicht darauf, von Bord zu gehen und die klimatisierten Räume des Schiffes, als „Oase für zwischendurch“, zu verlassen!
Die Frage des Landganges stellte sich jedoch leider gar nicht, da wir erst wieder gegen Nachmittag in den Hafen von Conakry eingelaufen sind und es einfach zu spät war. Und im Dunkeln wollten wir nun auch nicht unbedingt die Hauptstadt von Guinea besichtigen! Aber es gibt im Hafen ja auch immer viel zu beobachten:
Schon das Einlaufen in den Hafen war interessant, da sie zu wenig Platz für unser riesiges Schiff einkalkuliert hatten und erst nach wiederholtem Nebelhornbetätigen unseres Kapitäns das Containerschiff vor uns am Kai einige Meter vorgefahren wurde! Da wusste auch der Letzte in Conakry, dass wir angekommen waren- eine Lautstärke hat das Horn…
Die Rampe hat gerade so auf den letzten Metern der Hafenmauer ihren Platz gefunden, aber um auch die Fracht herunterfahren zu können, mussten „schnell“ bestimmt an die 40 Container, die dort im Weg standen, wegtransportiert werden. Und das dauert bekanntlich! In Afrika noch ein bisschen länger, aber „that´s africa“ wie so schön gesagt wird!
Interessante „Entladevorgänge“ folgten und die Jungs der Crew haben anscheinend allein 400 Autos, wie sie uns gesagt haben, und mehrere Container bis spät in die Nacht hinein hier abladen müssen. Sogar der Kapitän und der Koch mussten mit ran! Wahnsinn und das ist nur ein kleiner Bruchteil unserer Ladung.
Am nächsten Morgen waren alle Ladevorgänge bereits beendet, als nur noch die Rampe hochgezogen wurde und wir wieder in See stechen konnten. Nach 120 km, welches die bis jetzt kürzeste Seeetappe darstellte, hatten wir Freetown in Sierra Leone erreicht. Auch wie schon zuvor in Conakry fielen uns die zahlreichen Schiffswracks auf, die im Wasser lagen und vor sich hin rotteten.
Wir konnten hier sogar gleich langsam in den Hafen einlaufen. Dieser war etwas größer als die vorherigen und mit viel Polizeipräsenz bewacht. Auffällig viel!!!
Wir begnügten uns wieder mit Beobachten, da ein Landgang hier nicht erlaubt war. Den Grund haben wir zwar nicht ganz verstanden, aber uns war auch nicht nach einem Spaziergang durch afrikanische Slum-Viertel, die direkt an den Hafen grenzten.
Nach dem Abendessen sind Mario und ich noch mal in den Keller, wie wir immer sagen (soll heißen auf Deck 3, auf dem sich die Rampe befindet) und waren nah dran, um das Ausladen der Autos zu verfolgen. Was da wieder rausgefahren, gezogen, geschubst und getragen (!) wurde und was die Jungs von der Crew bei der ganzen Arbeit noch für einen Spaß in den Karren hatten, war wirklich spitze zu beobachten. Mario hätte am liebsten mitgemacht!
Die Autos wurden von der Crew wieder nur von Bord gefahren und dort von den einheimischen Hafenleuten in Beschlag genommen. Allerdings sind wir nicht dahinter gekommen, mit welchem Prinzip es dann mit den Autos weitergeht, da sich ungefähr 11 Männer auf ein Auto stürzen und einer von denen es schließlich auf einen großen Parkplatz 100 Meter weiter fahren darf?!
Während auch hier noch weit in die Nacht hinein Autos und LKW´s von Bord gefahren wurden und vom vorderen Teil der „Grande Francia“ Container abgeladen wurden, lagen wir schon in den Kojen und waren am nächsten Morgen überrascht, als alles bereits fertig war und wir nach dem Frühstück losgefahren sind. Unsere längste Etappe sollte folgen und endlich geht es über den großen Teich!
